Rail Town Community Gardens Project :

Rail Town Gardens recognizes that community gardening improves people’s quality of life by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development. Community gardens stimulate social interaction, encourage self-reliance, and beautify neighborhoods.

The Rail Town Garden Program is being planned to help people produce nutritious food, reduce family food budgets, conserve resources and create opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy and education.

The .6 acre garden and garden program are seeds in planning right now. The Garden Program, the raised bed plots and the garden kitchen service building are on the drawing table. For information and involvement please call Jill Hoxmeier to find out more at (406) 249-9911.

Did you know that on average, your meal travels 1500 miles before arriving on your plate? By providing community gardens, people are encouraged to grow their own food and minimize their carbon footprint.

Rail Town Cottage Homes :

Seven 2 and 3 bedroom cottage homes are planned around the Cottage Tree Park.
Simple designs, small footprints, and sustainable building materials and methods will make for charming homes in this cozy neighborhood.

Duplex Units :

Three duplex condominium units of 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms are planned for Rail Town Gardens. These 2 story homes have separate private entrances and outdoor dining spaces off the kitchen continuing the charming cottage theme
Pervious Parking and Courtyards:

Did you know that mixed recycled glass can be ground up and reused as Glassfault?

A variety of surfaces are being considered for various parking and walking areas. A key principle of the Rail Town Gardens storm water management plan is to keep and slow the storm water run off. Pervious surfaces offer natural storm water drainage and relief to the city storm water management system. Materials may include reclaimed ground glass, recycled ground asphalt and various washed aggregate for the various parking areas.
